Jet Fighting Movies - October is here For many of us, the temperature is dropping and the daylight hours are getting shorter, so it's inevitable that many hours will be spent indoors. There's no shame in using some of that time to go down cinema memory lane The 80s had no shortage of great war movies, but I've narrowed it down to five
When you put together a list of movies like this, you're bound to miss out on some really good choices In a decade like the 1970s, when there was a laundry list of great military or wartime films, the risk of missing a doozy became even more significant. After all, how do you choose between Clint Eastwood's "Heartbreak Ridge" and Robin Williams' "Good Morning Vietnam"? Simple, I don't even include it - and I'm sure it will damage the hair
Jet Fighting Movies
That's cool enough to analyze movies and their value or impact A movie that means the world to you may not affect the next person It doesn't cost you money and doesn't have to Everyone can get their choice
Air Force: Don't Buy Old Combat Aircraft
So understandably this list will not be exhaustive and may offend some people - here is a list of the best military movies of the 1980s.
Right out of the gate, including this film on the list requires a disclaimer: You don't have to be realistic to be a good war movie. "Iron Eagle" is many things, but reality is not one of them
For those who haven't seen it, "Iron Eagle" is the story of a young man named Doug Masters who wants to become a fighter pilot for his father, an Air Force colonel. Ted Masters When the earl was shot in the Arab country created by Biya. Masters, Doug enlists the help of another fighter pilot, Colonel "Chappy" Sinclair. The two hatch a plan to steal two F-16 Fighting Falcons, fly to the Middle East, take out the entire air force, land at an enemy airfield, and fly Doug's father home.
The movie is as realistic as the possibility of being elected president in 2020, but that's okay This silly romp is a lot of fun to watch, especially if you enjoy watching funny movies
The Russian Jet That Fights For Both Sides
Although it's a bit slower than most high-budget action movies these days, "Red Dawn" earns a place on this list because of the strong performances of the actors. Young people (some of whom have gone on to successful careers in Hollywood) and immature approaches to portray an America that is not only at war...but losing it.
"Red Dawn" could be classified as pro-American propaganda, but if you ask me, that's even funnier. Despite the fall of the Soviet Union, Russia remains one of America's primary diplomatic adversaries on the world stage, and Wolverine's efforts from the combined Cuban and Soviet forces are easy to cheer.
If you can watch this movie and not scream "Wolverines" at the top of your lungs, you're a better movie star than I am.
What do you get when you take two future governors, a Hollywood screenwriter and Apollo Creed and put them in the woods with guns? Probably the best comic of all time that you will ever find
More Countries Are Seeking Second Hand Fighter Jets
You may be surprised to hear me call "Predator" a cinematic film, but when you step back and look at the structure of the film, you will see that it was a waste of a big budget. Action movies from the 80s It has similar elements to 80s Train, but delivered in a way that takes the wind out of the hero's sails. After using traditional action movie tactics to easily wipe out the city of villains, Dutch's shady special operations team faces a more worthy adversary: a monster that refuses to give up. Action movies will be led by heroes
What follows is a quick transition from action film to slasher flick, and is a film that not only stands up to its time, but is a thoughtful critique of film culture in general.
"Top Gun" may take the number two spot on this list, but it's number one in recruiting "Top Gun" gave many Americans their first look at the world of Navy aviation, and specifically the Navy's Strike Fighter Tactics Instructor Program.
With the much-anticipated sequel dropping this year, the "Top Gun" appeal has clearly stood the test of time, even if Maverick is a badass pilot who has no place. In the cockpit of an F-14 Tomcat The film led to a naval recruitment bonanza, with some recruits setting up tables outside the cinema doors to mingle with aspiring pilots.
Top Gun: Maverick' Enemy Explained: Who Are They Fighting?
Once again, "Top Gun" proved that you don't have to be realistic to be great Here's hoping the new one can do the same
After the huge hit that was "Alien", the much-anticipated sequel managed to add a group of space marines and the fun excitement that everyone knows "Alien". Now, this movie may not be set in a fictional Arab country or an existing military branch, but who doesn't love a story about Space Marines fighting monsters?
This movie may be the least "military" of the lot, but it's a lot of fun to watch over and over again, which gets extra credit in my book. For a Marine like me, I probably don't want to be associated with the terrified screams of Bill Paxton's Pvt. Hudson, but let's all be honest with ourselves… there will be some complaints when acid monsters hunt for blood.
This makes it one of the best military movies of the 1980s So the question is: what's on your list?
