Jet Li Fight Scene - Jet Li is one of the greatest heroes of Chinese martial arts cinema. Outside of Asia, he debuted in the late 1990s with Lethal Weapon 4. His performance as the main villain was a sight to behold and actually saved the film from mediocrity.
He was later talked into doing Romeo Must Die, but returned to full form in 2001's Kiss of the Dragon. And no film from this period of his career allowed Li to showcase his martial arts skills as much as Kiss of the Dragon did. Produced and written by French master Luc Besson, this isn't your typical comic book Besson production, but takes a slightly more grounded approach to plot and action.
Jet Li Fight Scene
Chinese special agent Liu is called by French police to help arrest a Chinese gangster in Paris, but corrupt police captain Richard kills the suspect in cold blood. Liu is guilty of murder and tops Richard's list of murders. While this premise is obviously not original, it works perfectly to pave the way for many action sequences as Liu fights for survival against Richard's henchmen.

The punches and kicks begin within the first five minutes of the film, and the opening sequence sets the scene appropriately with a violent chase through hotel rooms and across balconies. Liu fights for the kill, and some of his attacks are so brutal they're almost painful to watch.
Always unarmed and unarmed, he uses any means he can find to cripple his enemies. Pool balls, cleaning mops and furniture, all become lethal weapons in Liu's hands. There isn't a moment of downtime, and the entire fight scene in Kiss of the Dragon fills three inferior action movies.
When he's not busy beating up bad guys, Li's character is a very likable guy. Humble and kind, he is the complete opposite of your standard over-the-top action movie hero. He is one of the most eco-friendly action heroes as he spends the entire film on foot or using public transport.
Li's stoic performance is a stark contrast to Cheki Karyo, who had a winning streak with many classic villain roles in the 1990s. His character, Richard, heads France's most corrupt police force and commits one heinous act after another as the story progresses. You know he's the ultimate sadist when it's revealed that he keeps a helpless turtle in his desk drawer 24/7.
